The Ohio State University – Residence on Tenth
The Kleingers Group collected and provided topographic survey data for this project and adjacent properties. We designed site utilities, overall site grading, site stormwater management/quality, the complete rebuild of the north/south alley adjacent to the site and all work within the City of Columbus Rights-of-Way. This included working with the MEP engineer and private utility owners to design multiple duct banks for private utilities surrounding the site. We utilized our strong working relationship with the City of Columbus to ensure work was not delayed due to permitting requirements.
The new housing is suite-style and provides approximately 537 additional student beds. Each unit is suite style containing 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a living room and kitchen area that houses 6 students each. The facility is located adjacent to the existing Hall Complex at the corner of 10th Avenue and Worthington Avenue.
The project included providing new primary 13.2 KV electric service to the site from a manhole on 11th Avenue and extending circuits south in Worthington Avenue to the project site. The new duct bank serves the new housing complex along with rework for the lateral duct banks that serves the Jesse Owens South Recreation Center and OSU’s Creative Living Center. The project was completed for the 2012 school year with a total construction cost of ~ $23 MM.
