Pond Station Road – IDI Logistics

Seventy-five percent of the total 41 acres was located within the floodplain of Pond Creek. The development is a 500,000 SF cross-dock speculative warehouse distribution facility. The facility is supported by a 301-space vehicular parking lot with 134 (67 on each side) space trailer parking lot. Kleingers provided civil engineering, utility, and stormwater management design for this project. Coordination with the Kentucky Division Of Water (KDOW) and the local MS4 for floodplain compensation was required. Along with state and local jurisdictions, the site was submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a Letter Of Map Revision (LOMR). Client design requirements included the building and the parking areas not impacted by the flood elevation.

The design includes two compensatory detention basins designed to allow high water levels to enter from the adjacent creek and store during high water events. Once water levels return to normal pool elevation, stored waters flow back into the creek. The site also includes a 10’ multi-use path (Louisville Loop) that traverses the site. The Louisville Loop will be comprised of over 100 miles, starting at the Ohio River in far northeastern Jefferson County and ending at the far southwestern part of the county at the Ohio River. Coordination with Louisville Metro Public Publics was required for the path and easements associated. Other site upgrades include designing a traffic signal located at the intersection of Stonestreet Road and Pond Station Road to be installed in mid-2024. The project requires coordination with Louisville Metro Public Works and CSX Railroad due to the proximity of the rail crossing and the signal. Other services included were survey, planning and zoning, transportation engineering, and landscape architecture.
