University of Dayton University Circle Landscape Master Plan
The Kleingers Group was hired to provide Landscape Master Planning for University Circle at the University of Dayton. A conceptual vision for this area of the campus is to remove the University Circle roadway in front of St. Mary’s Hall, creating a more pedestrian friendly plaza area and better defining the approach to the Immaculate Conception Chapel. The vision involves reconfiguration of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic circulation and the associated infrastructure. The vision also carries over into the informal green area east of Roesch Library and Albert Emanuel Hall, including improvements to the aesthetics of the approaches and environment in the eastern exterior spaces associated with these two buildings. The scope of this project requires the integrated evaluation of the master planning, landscape architecture, and traffic engineering components of the project goals. The intent of this project is to incorporate the various aspects of the project into one cohesive conceptual design process, thereby maximizing the synergies provided by considering all the components as an integrated system. This integrated approach will ultimately provide a more livable, more attractive, and safer environment for the university community.
