The Kleingers Group provided surveying and civil engineering services for the renovation of the Ohio State School for the Blind (OSSB) and the Ohio School for the Deaf (OSD). This project consisted of new academic wings on both the OSSB and OSD sites and eight new residential dormitories on each site. The site is situated on approximately 226 acres of land separated by an 85 acre conservation easement that separates the OSD and OSSB sites. This project included design of ten standard duty parking lots (110,000 sf ) for approximately 325 vehicles, on-site driveways and heavy duty bus drop-off areas at both schools. Existing on-site utilities were assessed and utility service—including water, sanitary and storm—to the renovations and dormitories were designed by Kleingers. Kleingers was responsible for all grading, storm water management and quality design, which included many site sustainability features. The project was designed to meet a minimum LEED Silver designation. The total construction cost for the improvements was about $43 Million.
