The Kleingers Group has worked closely with South-Western City Schools in providing surveying and civil engineering services on numerous projects, commencing with a large scale building project in 1999. The flagship site of this building project was the 110 acre Central Crossing High School Campus, which included the South-Western Career Academy and Holt Crossing Intermediate School along with a comprehensive athletic field facility to serve the District and community. Kleingers was responsible for the design of site layout, grading, drainage, public utility services and vehicular and pedestrian access to the buildings and site. The Central Crossing High School site posed many design challenges, including multiple jurisdictional reviews and coordination with the City of Columbus, City of Grove City, Franklin County and Jackson Township. Sanitary sewer and public watermain extensions to serve the three buildings were coordinated through the City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities. Additionally, The Kleingers Group provided complete surveying and civil engineering design services for the improvement of the intersection of Big Run South and Holt Roads and nearly 2 miles of public roadway associated with the High School Campus. Turn lanes and traffic signals were added to the intersections of Holt Road and the school entrance, Big Run South and Holt Roads and Big Run South Road and Southwest Boulevard. The roadway improvements were coordinated with the Franklin County Engineer’s Office.
Concurrent with the Central Crossing High School site project, Kleingers provided the site civil engineering design for the Park Street Intermediate School in Grove City, Galloway Ridge Intermediate School in Columbus and Franklin Woods Intermediate School in Columbus. The Park Street site posed construction phasing challenges, as the existing school on site remained during construction of the new building. Kleingers employed an innovative stormwater management approach on the Franklin Heights site, utilizing an orifice and weir wall design coupled with a new storm sewer discharge pipe to minimize impact on downstream property owners. Additionally, Kleingers has worked with South-Western City Schools on various improvement projects including:
