ODOT’s Satewide Safe Routes to School Program
Various Locations in Ohio
As a task order consultant for the Ohio Department of Transportation, Kleingers has worked with more than 20 local communities across the state — including Cincinnati Public Schools — to develop safer walking and biking routes for children to get to school. In each community, Kleingers has conducted studies to propose solutions that alleviate specific barriers that prevent children from being able to safely walk to school. In the process, the projects have also helped connect residential areas and provided multi-use paths. Plans include sidewalk, pathway, lighting, signage, and signal improvements, among others. In many of the communities, The Kleingers Group has conducted public meetings, gathered community input and participated in public education. Adjustments to several infrastructure projects have helped alleviate public concerns. The Kleingers Group team, including in-house staff and subconsultants, are experts in developing and implementing both engineering and non-engineering countermeasures.
