Miami University Armstrong Student Center
Kleingers provided Miami University survey and civil engineering design services for the $70 million Armstrong Student Center (also known as the Bicentennial Student Center) located in the heart of the 200-year-old campus. The 200,000 square foot building serves as the hub of activity on campus. To make way for the project, three buildings were gutted and renovated, and a parking lot was demolished.
Kleingers worked closely with other consultants on this project. Miami University selected the team because of previous experience working with complex utility infrastructures. Miami representatives knew Kleingers would complete the extensive due diligence required up front to thoroughly understand how the systems connect and operate.
Kleingers also assisted in rerouting the many utilities serving other buildings that passed through the site and had to be kept operational. Interface with several utility tunnels and spurs was required as grades above the tunnels were modified and new utilities designed.
