The Huffman Park was designed around natural and ‘green’ elements. The park includes a 1/2 mile walking trail, community garden plots, an orchard, interpretive pond, windmill for pond aeration, children’s butterfly garden, tree identification, sustainable bio-swale and a natural playground with a balance beam, seating and steppers made from existing trees on site. Aesthetic land forms were designed to screen views and also create ‘fun’ hills for children to play on. A slide is also built into the hillside to create a natural play environment. The playground playstructure is designed to resemble wood and trees, thereby, mimicking nature. The Kleingers Group provided landscape architecture, land surveying, and civil engineering for the project.
