Good Samaritan North Center Expansion
The Kleingers Group performed survey, civil engineering and landscape architect for this $28 million, 96,000 SF four-story addition and 22-bed, 22,000 SF emergency department that provided much needed medical service to Dayton’s Englewood and Clayton communities.
A new tree-lined entrance to the hospital site was designed to ease visual tension to visitors arriving during emergency situations and a landscape courtyard adjacent to the facility provides a respite for visitors.
The landscape theme carries over to the new patient entrance, ambulance drop-off areas, and some elements within the new helipad location. The design team found challenges in working with the existing 20’ grade change from the new entrance connection at the street to the proposed addition. To remedy this, an additional 60,000 yards was trucked in during construction and retaining walls were constructed. The project also includes the relocation of an existing waterline and major 16” gas line.
