Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Liberty Campus Addition and New Proton Therapy Center
Liberty Township, Ohio

The Kleingers Group worked with three different architects to provide civil engineering, surveying, and landscape design for this multi-phase high-profile project.

A $44 million addition to the existing hospital facility included a new fourth floor that added 28 new in-patient beds with an expanded kitchen and dining area. Landscape architecture included a new pedestrian entry sequence with a pedestrian alley and outdoor physical therapy and dining areas. Set at the main entry to the entire campus, the landscape design included specialty pavements, seat walls, decorative lighting, signage, landscaping, and irrigation. Kleingers also designed the stormwater management and detention, and modified the existing detention basin.

A separate $118 million, two-story, 80,000 SF proton therapy and research center for cancer treatment facility was constructed adjacent to the existing building. Landscape architecture included a four-season garden and green roof for relaxation, a new pedestrian entry sequence with a pedestrian alley and outdoor physical therapy and dining areas. Set at the main entry to the entire campus, the landscape architecture design included specialty pavements, seat walls, decorative lighting, signage, landscaping, and irrigation.
