Beavercreek Elementary and Middle Schools
Beavercreek, Ohio

Kleingers provided survey, site engineering, traffic engineering and landscape architecture design services for the new elementary and middle school projects. Kleingers also guided the school district through the zoning approval processes with the township and county, which required the coordination of all of the public and non-public entities. While the overall site plan for Beavercreek Elementary and Middle Schools reserved a significant amount of land for rain gardens and green space, it also included a variety of spaces for students to experience and  interact with each other and the outdoors. A media garden incorporates stimulating colors, textures, shapes and smells through carefully selected plants, paving patterns, pathways, and sculptural elements. A wedge shaped courtyard banded with various plantings and paving patterns offers a more passive setting for students, faculty, and visitors. Keeping in mind maintenance needs and the long-term use issues, the landscape design was uniquely designed to cater to the school district’s needs and desires. Plantings selected were hardy, salt tolerant, sustainable, and required minimal maintenance and watering.
