Mt. Healthy City School District
Mt. Healthy, Ohio
The Kleingers Group provided Mt. Healthy City Schools with surveying, transportation and civil engineering design for the Mt. Healthy Schools district wide improvement project. This large $80 million plus initiative included two new 1,100-student elementary schools, a new 1,500-student high school, a new district-wide bus facility, improvements to the district-wide board office, district-wide land surveys, traffic studies, roadway improvements, flood studies, utility extensions, zoning and annexation services, and several new athletic field designs including a new synthetic turf football field at Mt. Healthy High School. From the beginning, these large projects had significant challenges including complicated terrain, unknown location of most existing utilities, and a complex district wide traffic flow pattern. Our Survey team worked closely with Mt. Healthy’s Business Manager to obtain school records and develop comprehensive basemaps, giving the contractor ample information on the location of existing utilities and saving the district from costly change orders. Our Transportation team worked closely with the district and the multiple local governmental agencies to study and develop a safe traffic plan to accommodate the district’s 3,700 students. One of the more complicated projects for this district was the successful design of a new synthetic turf football field due the fact that the football stadium was located within a floodplain. We performed a flood study and designed a Conspan Bridge to enable spectators to safely cross the adjacent creek and reach the new football stadium. Our nationally recognized synthetic turf designer, Craig Honkomp worked to create a synthetic turf underdrain system that would withstand the floodwaters of the adjacent creek.
