Doubletree Memphis Hotel Renovation

The Kleingers Group‘s reality capture division, TrueScan, provided laser scanning and Revit modeling services on this historic hotel project in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. While working within the complexities of a functioning hotel in an urban setting, TrueScan collected approximately 1,000 scans to document this 12-story structure. The scanning team thoroughly documented common areas, stairwells, mechanical spaces, and hallways. TrueScan registered rooms by scanning “typical rooms” on each floor and populating the point cloud with that information. Field scanning time took approximately two weeks.
TrueScan created a Revit model for the entire building. The design team used the Revit information as a base drawing to inform areas where new construction met the existing building. In the end, laser scanning provided the most cost-effective and efficient way to document this historic structure in the Memphis skyline.
