The Kleingers Group story begins in 1993, when Jim Kleingers bought the interest in what was then the West Chester, Ohio branch of RW Consultants, a civil engineering and land surveying firm based in nearby Middletown, Ohio.
Including Jim, five employees started work right away at the new company, originally named Kleingers & Associates, to serve clients and help transform communities during a period of phenomenal growth in West Chester and neighboring Liberty Township.
In just the first few years of business, Kleingers expanded rapidly to become one of the major civil engineering and land surveying firms in Southwest Ohio.
Following years of directing clients to “the second basement past the dumpster (you can’t miss it)”, Kleingers moves out of the basement office and into first story digs.
Kleingers begins using GPS equipment for land surveying projects, providing measurement accuracy within 1/16 inch.
In 2000, The Kleingers Group expanded from Southwest Ohio to Columbus, opening a new office to better serve the Central Ohio region.

Following years of steady growth providing site/civil engineering and land survey services, Kleingers begins expanding its offerings with the addition of Transportation Engineering services. Today, transportation infrastructure design, traffic engineering, and bridge design are core service offerings at Kleingers.
Shortly after adding transportation engineering services, Kleingers branches into landscape architecture. Today, Lynne Nischwitz heads the landscape architecture studio.
In the summer of 2005, Kleingers & Associates shut down the office for a couple days to take all employees and spouses on a Caribbean cruise! Several employees hired in the following years are still bitter.
Vacations are great, but you never know what your office will look like when you come back.
In 2008, Kleingers became the municipal engineer for Deer Park. In addition to Deer Park, Kleingers now serves five additional communities.
Our second largest office outgrew its walls in 2008 and relocated to a larger space in the booming Polaris area on the north side of Columbus.

As part of a research project, employees of Kleingers & Associates begin researching 3D laser scanning. The research is so successful that Kleingers purchases a 3D laser scanner to begin experimenting with the new technology. Fast forward to 2015, and Truescan3D, a division of The Kleingers Group, completes one of the largest scans ever completed in the region for the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal.
Because of the growing number of sport field projects Kleingers worked on, Sportworks Field Design was created as a division of Kleingers & Associates. Since its beginning, Sportworks Field Design has helped educate hundreds of clients on the sport field design process and has successfully built fields all across the state.
Kleingers selects an office space across the street from the Dayton Dragons baseball stadium. The downtown Dayton office joins West Chester and Columbus to make three Ohio offices.
In 2013, 20 years after its founding, Kleingers & Associates is rebranded as The Kleingers Group to reflect the growing diversity of services it offers and the ever growing number of employees who have become part of the team.

With nearly 80 employees in three locations, The Kleingers Group has become one of the most respected names in civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, and 3D laser scanning.
